Engine oil, lubricants and fluids, wholesale and export.

Sparesdock prices oil, lubricants and workshop fluids for motor factors, importers and exporters. Send the manufacturer approval and the pack size and every line comes back with price and availability within one working day. We buy in four markets, the UK, Germany, the UAE and the United States, and quote each line from whichever one lands cheapest for you.

Oil is a different trade from hard parts. There is no part number to cross reference, so a line is only right when it carries the approval the engine needs. We quote the majors, the European and British blenders, and the OEM-branded oils that come in the vehicle maker's own box.

How an oil line is quoted

The approval decides it, not the part number

Tell us the manufacturer approval the vehicle needs, for example VW 504 00, MB 229.51 or JLR STJLR.03.5007, not only the viscosity. Two 5W-30 oils can carry different approvals and only one of them will do. If you want a named brand throughout, say so; if you want the cheapest oil that holds the approval, say that instead.

The approvals we are asked for most

Send one of these and the line is unambiguous.

Where we buy

Parts we buy in the UK and Europe. Oil is the one line where we go further, because the same pack has four different prices depending on which market you stand in. A German blender is cheapest at home. A British blender is cheapest in Britain. An American brand sometimes has no British distributor at all. A Gulf buyer can sometimes be served out of the UAE without paying European freight. We buy in all four, so we quote the line from the market that lands cheapest for you and we name that market on the quote.

United KingdomBritish blenders, the majors through UK distribution, and OEM-branded oil in the maker's own box
GermanyThe German blenders at source, where "Made in Germany" on the pack is worth money in the export markets
United Arab EmiratesFor Gulf and East African buyers, a line that can be served without European freight
United StatesFor the American brands, several of which have no named UK distributor at all

Why the chain matters on a commodity line

Most European oil reaches the Gulf, Africa and Asia through a chain: the blender, a European distributor, a re-exporter, then you. Every step takes its margin and adds a wait. We buy at the shortest step we can reach in each of our four markets, which is the whole reason we can hold a broker margin on a commodity line.

The country on the pack

Some markets sell on the country on the pack as much as on the brand, and a buyer who resells wants to know what the label says before the pallet lands. We are careful with this. Two brands on our list print the origin on the pack itself, Ravenol and Mannol. Several others state it on their own website but do not mark the pack. The majors blend in more than one country and the plant depends on which pack you get. So if origin matters on your order, say so and we check the pack before we quote rather than telling you what you want to hear.

Which oil brands do we quote?

Grouped by where the blender sits, because some markets buy on the country on the pack.

Blended in Britain

Britain still blends, and two of these run at a scale most buyers do not expect.

FuchsStoke-on-Trent, 90,000 tonnes a year across 51 blending vessels
TotalEnergiesFerrybridge in West Yorkshire, the last of the majors still blending in Britain
Millers OilsBrighouse in West Yorkshire, independent, its own plant on site
Morris LubricantsShrewsbury, own plant, blending capacity raised by a third in 2024
GranvilleGoldthorpe near Rotherham, the whole range blended on one site

Blended in Germany

Single country blenders. In several export markets the German pack sells at a premium over the same viscosity from a global brand.

Liqui MolyUlm and Saarlouis, and nowhere else by its own account
RavenolWerther and Lubmin, with the origin printed on the label and moulded into the bottle
RoweWorms and Bubenheim. No UK distributor at all, so this one reaches you through our German line
AddinolLeuna in central Germany, one site for the whole range

Blended elsewhere in Europe

Single country blenders again, useful when a specification is easier to hold from one plant.

Kroon OilAlmelo in the Netherlands, over a hundred million litres a year
WolfHemiksem in Belgium, all production in one country
Wynn'sSint-Niklaas in Belgium for the European market
RepsolPuertollano in Spain
PetronasVillastellone near Turin for the European range
MotulFrance, with European contract blending alongside its own plants

Blended in more than one country

The plant depends on which pack arrives, so we do not guess at origin here. If it matters on your order we check the pack before we quote.

CommaA British company at Gravesend in Kent, part of Moove, which blends across five European countries
CastrolA British company with its technology centre at Pangbourne, blending in several countries
ShellRegistered in London, blending worldwide
MobilExxonMobil. European blending includes Rotterdam, Naantali and Uddevalla
ElfA TotalEnergies brand run from Nanterre
EniItalian, with no blending plant published
GulfLicensed market by market. Certas Energy holds the licence in Britain
ValvolineAmerican, owned by Saudi Aramco, with no named UK distributor
MannolA brand of SCT Lubricants with a German office at Wedel. The pack is marked Made in EU

What buyers put on an oil list

Engine oil is the volume line. The rest travels with it.

Engine oilFully synthetic, semi synthetic and mineral, by approval and viscosity
OEM-branded oilIn the vehicle maker's own box, for buyers who resell as genuine
Transmission and axleManual, automatic, CVT and DCT fluids, axle and differential oil
Brake fluidDOT 4, DOT 4 low viscosity, DOT 5.1
Coolant and antifreezeConcentrate and ready mixed, by specification not by colour
AdBlue and DPFUrea solution to ISO 22241, DPF cleaners and additives
GreasesLithium, copper, moly and high temperature, cartridge to keg
Workshop chemicalsCleaners, screenwash, additives, aerosols

Pack sizes and what they do to the freight

1L and 4L to 5LShelf packs for factors and retail resale
20L and 25LThe workshop pail, the most exported size
60L and 205LKeg and drum for fleets and blenders
1000L IBCBulk, by arrangement and on its own pallet

Oil ships by weight, so the pack size decides the freight as much as the price does. Twenty litre pails palletise better than 5L cases and drums better again. Engine oil, coolant and AdBlue are not hazardous for sea freight; aerosols and some solvent cleaners are restricted, and we say so on the line before you commit rather than at the dock.

Frequently asked

Which oil brands do you quote?

Castrol, Shell, Mobil, TotalEnergies, Elf, Fuchs, Motul, Liqui Moly, Mannol, Ravenol, Rowe, Addinol, Repsol, Petronas, Eni, Kroon Oil, Wolf, Wynn's, Valvoline, Comma, Millers Oils, Morris Lubricants, Granville, Gulf. Ask for any other blender and we price it.

Can you supply Castrol and the other majors?

Yes, alongside the OEM-branded oils that come in the vehicle maker's own box and the European and British blenders. Send the approval and the pack size and we price it. We buy in the UK, Germany, the UAE and the United States and quote whichever lands cheapest for you. We are not an authorised distributor for any oil company.

What is OEM-branded oil?

The same oil in the vehicle maker's box under their own part number, blended for them by one of the majors. Jaguar Land Rover genuine oil is a Castrol product, for example. Buyers who resell as genuine want the maker's box; buyers who do not usually take the blender's own pack at a lower price. We quote both on the same line so you choose.

Which markets do you buy oil in?

The UK, Germany, the UAE and the United States. The same pack carries four different prices depending on which market you stand in, and on a commodity line that gap is usually wider than our margin. Some brands only make sense one way: Rowe has no UK distributor and comes through Germany, and several American brands have no European distributor either. We quote from the market that lands cheapest for you and we say which one it is.

Can I ask for oil blended in a particular country?

Yes, and buyers do. Some markets sell on the country on the pack, so tell us which origin you need and we quote the brands that carry it. We say where each line comes from rather than leave you to read it off the label when it lands.

How do I know the oil is genuine?

Fluids are among the most counterfeited lines in this trade, so we buy only through channels we already use and we name both the blender and the market the line came from on the quote. Nothing is bought from a source we cannot place. If a price looks too good against the market, we tell you so rather than sell it to you.

What pack sizes do you quote?

Oil ships by weight, so the pack size decides the freight as much as the price does. Twenty litre pails palletise better than 5L cases and drums better again. Engine oil, coolant and AdBlue are not hazardous for sea freight; aerosols and some solvent cleaners are restricted, and we say so on the line before you commit rather than at the dock.

Can oil go on the same list as parts?

Yes. Oil is normally the heaviest thing on a mixed list, so we price it with the parts and then tell you what it does to the freight before you commit. How export works.

Are any of these blended in Britain?

Britain still blends, and not only through the small independents. Fuchs blends at Stoke-on-Trent and calls that plant the largest lubricant manufacturer in the United Kingdom. TotalEnergies blends at Ferrybridge in West Yorkshire and describes itself as the only major energy company still manufacturing lubricants in the UK. Millers Oils has its own plant at Brighouse, Morris Lubricants at Shrewsbury, and Granville blends everything it sells on one site at Goldthorpe near Rotherham.
