Identifying a Renault 2.0 dCi

What we check before we quote, and where the wrong engine gets shipped.

Displacement
2.0 litres (1,995 cc), four cylinders, common rail diesel
Family
M9R, a Renault-Nissan engine
What to watch
Van and car versions differ in ancillaries and mounts. The letter code on the block plus the VIN is needed.
Why buyers replace it
Trafic and Vivaro fleets are the main market, with Qashqai and X-Trail units for export.

Complete engine, long block or short block?

The form is stated on every quote, with what is included and what moves across from the old engine.

Short block Long block Complete engine
New engine, explodedShort block · long block · complete
Complete engineBlock, head, crank train, timing drive and the ancillaries the manufacturer ships with that part number
Long blockBlock, crank train, head and timing drive; your injectors, turbo and ancillaries move across
Short blockBlock, crankshaft, pistons and rods; for workshops rebuilding on their own head

Injectors and pump

If the old engine failed from fuel contamination, the injectors and pump go with it. We quote new injectors and the high pressure pump on the same list.

Fitting parts

Gasket sets, timing kits, mounts, filters and fluids for the swap come from our engine and cooling range, and turbochargers where the old one is suspect.

Frequently asked

Is a new Renault 2.0 dCi engine genuine or OE?

Either, and the quote says which. Genuine means the vehicle manufacturer's own unit with its part number. OE-built means a new engine assembled from the original manufacturer's components. Both are new and zero mileage. The grades are explained here.

Do you supply reconditioned or used engines?

No. Every engine we quote is new. We do not supply reconditioned, remanufactured, ex-test or used engines.

What comes with the engine?

That depends on the form: complete, long block or short block. The quote lists what is included and what is not, including injectors, turbo, flywheel, sensors and the wiring loom, so you know what moves across from the old engine.

What do you need to quote a Renault 2.0 dCi?

The VIN and the engine code from the block. A photograph of the engine plate or the block stamping is enough. Van and car versions differ in ancillaries and mounts. The letter code on the block plus the VIN is needed.

Warranty, core return and lead time?

All three are stated on the quote for the specific unit, because they differ by engine and by source. We do not quote a generic figure that the engine in front of you may not meet.

Can you ship a new engine for export?

Yes. Engines travel crated on a pallet. We deliver to your forwarder with the commercial invoice, packing list and origin documents, or consolidate the engine with the rest of your list. How export works.
